Weaving and a sunflower or two

I'm getting ready to send off some new weaving to an exhibit coming up in October. Here's a little peek at the latest piece.

I'll have to wait until the show opens to reveal all. This basket is all about plant materials. And speaking of plants....the sunflowers are all opening. This is a few of the colors from Vesey's Seeds Autumn Beauty Mix.

I love the fuzzy bracts and stems around the buds as they open too! And then there's the Early Russian seeds that have reached their 8 foot status.

And I'm not the only one that loves them...click on the picture to see all of the pollen he has on his fuzzy little legs!

The blue jays will no doubt turn up again just as the seeds ripen. It's worth the wait through the summer to see these bright spots in the fall. It makes the garden seem sunny even on a grey day.
